Physical Therapy Programs provided include: Rehabilitation, Maintenance Ambulation, Orthotics, Customized Adaptive Seating, and Pressure Relief Systems. The Physical Therapy Team consists of a Physical Therapist, a Physical Therapy Technician, and two Physical Therapy Aides.

Our Custom Helmet Program provides helmets to individuals at risk of injury due to seizures or unsteady gait with the goal of enabling individuals to continue to be as independent as possible in their daily life while maintaining their safety.

Our Custom Orthotic Program provides appropriated bracing and orthotics for optimal positioning of joints particularly of the foot and ankle. This enables individuals to transfer and/or ambulate at their highest functional level.

Our Customized Adaptive Seating Program has enabled seating for all BHC's individuals (no one remains in bed or utilizes a bed cart). Along with seating being provided in custom wheelchairs, modifications are provided for individuals who are ambulatory but present with significant scoliosis or with pressure concerns. We are able to obtain most new seating/wheelchairs through Medicare/Medicaid funding. All Physical Therapy staff can provide at least simple repairs such as tightening brakes. Maintenance provides staff for emergency repairs, along with weekly clinic. Our Vendor provides bimonthly Wheelchair Repair Clinic along with the once a month Wheelchair Order/Modification Clinic. With this team, even individuals with degenerative diagnoses can maintain independence and dignity as long as possible through gradual/incremental changes in adaptive equipment.

he Physical Therapy Department is constantly developing creative solutions for transfers and mobility issues.
