The Central Missouri Regional Office is part of the Division of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD), established in 1974, which serves a population that has developmental disabilities such as:
CMRO serves eligible citizens in the Mid-Missouri counties of Benton, Boone, Callaway, Carroll, Chariton, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau, Morgan, Pettis, Randolph, and Saline.
CMRO was established in 1983 on the grounds of the Marshall Habilitation Center. The original CMRO now serves over 3000 consumers in its 13 county catchment area. In addition to the main office in Columbia, there are satellite offices in Jefferson City, Fulton, Moberly, Marshall, and Sedalia.

CMRO works cooperatively with county SB40 Boards in Boone, Cole, Cooper, Saline, and Pettis Counties which also provide service coordination services.
