2009 "Real Voices - Real Choices" Conference

The 2009 “Real Voices – Real Choices” conference will take place Sunday, August 23 through Tuesday, August 25 at Tan-Tara-A, Lake Ozark, Missouri. The Conference Planning Committee, which is comprised of consumers who represent the divisions of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Comprehensive Psychiatric Services, and Development Disabilities chose the theme of “Expanding Our Vision” for this year’s conference. Consumers from across the state will do presentations and workshops on a number of topics including wellness, recovery, stigma reduction, self-direction, peer provided services, and self-expression through writing and graphic arts. A special panel presentation entitled “Successful Voices – Successful Choices” will offer attendees an opportunity to hear consumers discuss choices they made in their lives that helped them to succeed. Attendees at the conference will also have an opportunity to participate in the “Pillows of Unrest” art project.
