The Office of General Counsel is responsible for a variety of department-wide and state-wide functions in support of the department services, division offices and other support offices: providing legal advice and litigation support; technical assistance with rules and policy development; compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy administration and coordination; and providing appeals and hearings for administrative due process.
