Psychology Internship Program - Eligibility
Applicant Eligibility
Students in APA-approved doctoral programs in clinical or
counseling psychology, who have completed their institution’s academic
coursework, passed their comprehensive or qualifying exam, completed a
minimum of 1000 hours of clinical or counseling practica, and have been
approved by their graduate training director, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, or eligible to work in the U.S.
Ensuring cultural competence and respect for diversity is a priority to Fulton State Hospital in general and to the Psychology Internship in specific. We encourage applications from members of ethnic/cultural minority groups.
Application Materials
Applicants must submit the APPIC Application for Psychology Internship (AAPI), which can be obtained from the APPIC website: http://www.appic.org/. Please note that original signatures are required on the AAPI; photocopied signatures are NOT acceptable. Additionally, 3 letters of recommendation and official graduate transcripts from all graduate schools attended are required.

Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by a subset of the core
Internship Faculty. Applicants who pass this preliminary screening will be
invited for an interview. While in-person interviews are strongly encouraged,
they are not required. Applicants who are unable to travel to Fulton may
schedule a telephone interview instead.
Offers and Notification
Offers for admission are contingent on the results of background screenings, which includes urine drug screen and criminal background check.
The FSH internship participates in the APPIC Internship Matching Program and adheres to all APA and APPIC rules governing the selection of interns and the offering of positions. Applicants must obtain an Applicant Agreement and register for the Match in order to be eligible to match to our program. Applicants may download an Applicant Agreement from the Matching Program website at www.natmatch.com/psychint or may request that an agreement be mailed to them by contacting the National Matching Services, Inc. at P.O. Box 1208, Lewiston, NY 14092-8208, (716) 282-4013. Applicants matched with this internship will be notified of acceptance by APPIC on Match Notification Day. This internship site agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any intern applicant. The only information we will communicate to applicants prior to the release of the APPIC Match results is whether or not the applicants remain under consideration for admission.
