    Hawthorn recognizes it's role as the public safety net for children without insurance or other means to pay for care. We will do all possible to ensure that needed psychiatric care is provided to any child within our service territory who otherwise would not receive services.

    Hawthorn is a partner with other public agencies who treat children with mental health issues including juvenile/family courts, local schools, the Department of Health and Senior Services, and the State divisions of Youth Services, Medicaid,Childrens Services, Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities.

    MISSION
    As part of the Department of Mental Health's System of Care, the role of Hawthorn is to provide inpatient care to children and adolescents in acute psychiatric crisis and to provide residential care and educational services to adolescents with severe emotional disturbance. In addition, Hawthorn provides expert consultation to the Department of Mental Health's Community Mental Health Centers.

    * Accessibility of individualized treatment.

    * Family and community involvement.

    * Continuity of care and excellence of treatment.
