Mr. bernard Simons, Director - Division of Developmental Disabilities
Bernie Simons is presently the Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities for the state of Missouri. Prior to his present position, He was part of the monitoring team for the U.S. Department of Justice vs. New Jersey settlement agreements for New Lisbon Developmental Center and Woodbridge Developmental Center suits.
As a consultant he has worked with numerous states on Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and Department of Justice issues. He has extensive experience assisting people in the transition process from developmental centers to the community facility phase down and strategies and risk mitigation system.
Additionally, he has experience as a regional and facility director in Tennessee, the Connecticut Regional System, retired from Massachusetts after 21 years and began his career in direct care in Rhode Island. He has worked in the field for 35 years.
Bernie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts, Master of Arts in Education
from University of Rhode Island and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies
in Special Education from Boston University.
