HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices

HIPAA regulations at 45 CFR 164.520 state in regard to the Notice of Privacy Practices,  “A health plan must provide notice: no less frequently than once every three years, and the health plan must notify individuals then covered by the plan of the availability of the notice and how to obtain the notice.”  For HIPAA purposes, the Department is considered a health plan.
