ORGANIZATION AND PERSONNEL
The Regional Executive Officer of the Southern Region Hospital System is appointed by the Chief Operating Officer of the Division of Comprehensive Psychiatric Services, and is responsible for three facilities of the Comprehensive Psychiatric Services division of the Department of Mental Health, including Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center. The REO is responsible for overseeing the mental health service delivery system in the region, establishing a system of treatment which provides continuity of care, serves the target population, and monitors quality of care, including the operation of each of the three state-operated psychiatric facilities.
The REO directly supervises the Chief Operating Officer of the facility, and the Chief Financial Officer, Quality Management Director, and Human Resources Manager of the region.
The Chief Operating Officer supervises the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Rehabilitation Services Coordinator, Unit Managers, and Social Work Coordinator.
Treatment Staff
Following is a list of some of our professional staff. There are staff from many disciplines involved in treatment.
Psychiatrists ~ Physicians specializing in psychiatric disorders, who have had four years of training in psychiatry and neurology in addition to a medical degree.
Physicians ~ Individuals specialized in treatment of physical disorders. Training includes a medical degree and at least one year of supervised training after graduation.
Psychologists and Professional Counselors ~ Individuals with specialized training in human behavior and in diagnosing and treatment of mental disorders.
Psychiatric Nurses ~ Registered nurses who have additional experience in caring for clients with psychiatric disorders.
Clinical Social Workers ~ Individuals who specialized in therapy and techniques to enhance, protect or restore one's capacity for social functioning.
Clinical Casework Assistants ~ Individuals with education in completing comprehensive social histories and discharge planning.
Pharmacists ~ Individuals with specialized training in medications and their use and side effects.
Therapeutic Recreation Specialists ~ Individuals trained to provide recreational and other skills and opportunities to improve health and well-being.
Chaplain ~ Ordained chaplain trained in mental health services provides or arranges for non-denominational worship services and Catholic communion services weekly, as well as provides pastoral counseling as requested. If a client wants to see his/her own priest or minister, it will be arranged.
Psychiatric Aides ~ Individuals who have completed a facility-based training program. Training includes both classroom work and clinical interactions with patients.
Program Supervisors ~ Manage the treatment services and residential staff on the MI/DD units.
