OBTAINING SERVICES

Admission

The Emergency Room is located on the first floor of the Danny Staples Building and is available 24/7 for evaluation of persons with psychiatric emergencies or pursuant to court orders.  Every person is screened and evaluated by a physician, social worker and a registered nurse.  Both family and client are interviewed.  ALL information provided is kept confidential.  The Emergency Room provides initial treatment and recommends appropriate disposition, which may include admission to Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center or referral to another agency for inpatient or outpatient services. If admission is needed, the person is most often placed on an Acute Services ward. Admission directly to Forensic/Long Term Care Services is reserved for persons on a forensic court order or on a forensic conditional release. Admission to the MI/DD program is prearranged and pre-approved.
